The soul seems to me to be more accurately described as consciousness. Having gone from the narrowness of being perfectly virtuous within the concept of the soul and its immortality, a broader image creeps in, that of an expanding Christ, then the realisation that a man cannot express or encompass such universiality. It seems to be better encompassed in the expression of a universal goddess who accepts and tolerates all of the the planet and its inhabitants including their vagaries and vices.
Having got this far one then appreciates one's body much more, realising that consciousness is merely a product of one's physical body and that even if we are omnipresent and all encompassing this consciousness dies with the body.
As a product of this universal element we learn to love and tolerate the whole planet and all of its inhabiltants and there is no need for permanet evolution and development or so called improvement as there is no more judgement and fighting against what we perceive as wrong.
