One way of counteracting the problems mentioned in my post on upbringing could be to remind a child that you will want to feel proud of him or her as he or she goes through life. And also to impress upon them that adopting self-responsibility is very important.
Self-responsibility also involves one in not tolerating a detrimental situation at whatever age. This makes the abuse rebound to the abuser or to any initiator of evil worldly intent.
